Yoga for Joints and Glands with Ragani

What a wonderful way to start the day.  The class started at 6:30 am and it was literally the first thing I did that morning.  The Yoga for Joints and Glands class is not your typical yoga class.   It’s extremely gentle and very different from most yoga classes I’ve taken.

While most of the yoga classes that I’ve taken are about pushing yourself (more like power yoga) the yoga classes during Ashram week are more about the spiritual side of yoga.  I actually really experienced a difference in my ability to do certain poses in another class I took this week, which I found really amazing.

Back to this class though…this was the first yoga class I’ve experienced where we started off doing yoga for our face.  We opened our mouths really wide and moved our eyes around.  Yes, we looked really silly, but felt surprisingly good.

We then moved on to gently moving all different parts of the body, from our heads down to our feet.  The entire class was actually very relaxing, almost like a yoga meditation (if that exits!).  Also, since it was so early in the morning, it was the perfect way to get the day going.

Ragani was wonderful as our teacher.  Her voice was very soothing and she has such an easy-going personality.  I truly enjoyed her class as well as a talk she did on stress earlier in the week.  Sadly, I wasn’t able to attend her Kirtan concert later in the week, but I hope to see her next time at the Ranch.
